OK so I’ve never been inside Queen of Hoxton, but I pass it from time to time and it really stands out. This is partly due to the fact that it’s at the very beginning of Curtain Road, which could be argued marks a dividing line between The City (financial centre of Europe, tall steel and glass buildings, fairly clean and orderly) and Shoreditch (playground for old and new media types and students, arty, grimy, young). It’s also just down the road from the site of the original Curtain Theatre (of Shakespearean fame), but more about that another time.
In any case, I really like the logo and the drippy, swirly painting, and most of all the neon pink against the black brick. V punk – and lovely.
(And just in case you were wondering, it’s a bar, club and art gallery.)
